Yes. It is irreversible death which means users should find other way for a solution themselves. But indirectly its by Google forcing to switch over to YouTube Music. Google Play Music offers to transfer their data to YouTube Music.
According to the report, Google has started emailing users to inform them that all of their Google Play Music data will be deleted on February 24, 2021. This data includes the music library with uploads, purchases, and anything that has been purchased from Google Play Music. The data will be deleted on February 24 and there will be no way to recover it.
If you do decide to stay with YouTube Music and transfer your music library over, the easiest way is to go to play.google.com and tap Transfer to YouTube Music button. This option handles playlists, music purchases you have made, songs you have liked, and so on. Google says this can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few days which depends upon the size of the music library.
"Once you tap the Transfer button, your recommendations library and billing will begin transferring to YouTube Music (for Google Play Music subscribers). If you have a large collection, the library transfer could take longer than your billing transfer. You'll receive two separate emails letting you know when each of the transfers is finished," Google says.
Alternatively, that same link will give you the option of downloading your purchased music in MP3 format, if you want to keep your music but not make the jump to YouTube Music, as well as delete your recommendation history to start anew.
